My brother and I moved into the Fountain Square area around 2011. We were bored one Friday night, so we went to check out the neighborhood. We randomly walked up to school eighteen where Teen Night use to be held and then ran into Jake Medlong, the former Executive Director of Kids Inc. We asked him if we could join him at Teen Night, and he said yes. We had a blast our first time visiting, and it just so happened it was also the weekend of the Indianapolis Marathon that Kids Inc volunteers at every year to help raise money for its programs. We asked if we could join the team of volunteers, and Jake said yes! I didn’t realize at the time, but this was a pivotal moment in my life. I was about to join an organization that would change who I am. Kids Inc helped introduce me to biblical concepts and individuals who would help me become the man I am today. It has been a tool in my life to show me God’s purpose for my life. Who would have thought I would be granted a leadership position some ten years later as the Teen Director at Kids Inc? Through Kids Inc I met my beautiful fiancé and I have also had the pleasure of meeting so many different people in the community. It is a place where I get to serve side by side with some of the most amazing people I have ever met. People I look up to. I don’t know where I would be if I had not randomly wandered into this program. God is good!

I began serving with Kids Inc. based on a conversation I had with one of my college classmates. I was looking for a place to serve after graduating and Kids Inc. seemed like a great fit when I saw the incredible impact it had on those in the community. Over the past three years, I have helped with summer camps, Camp Allendale, the Fort Ben Marathon, and leading Guys Night Discipleship Group for two years. I see a huge need for positive male role models that many of our students do not have and I want to make a difference in their lives. Outside of Kids Inc. I am an Aerospace Engineer, love sports and especially hiking in my spare time.

I first decided to get involved in Kids Inc. after meeting the leaders and students who were attending a week-long visit to Camp Allendale where I was working. It was extremely clear to me from the moment I met all of them that God was at work in their ministry, and it made me want to be a part of that work! Since that encounter, I’ve regularly attended Teen Night and am now a team leader, seeking to build life changing relationships with our students who attend and provide a listening ear to an often-unheard demographic of children. Outside of Kids Inc., I am studying Elementary and Special Education at Indiana Wesleyan University. You’ll often find me drinking way too much coffee while embroidering, playing piano or guitar, and/or watching Stargate SG-1 with my fiancé Dylan!
