It’s coming up on one of our favorite times of the year at K.I.D.S. Inc! Summer means taking our students to camp. This year, we’re taking middle and high school students to Camp Allendale from June 12-17. Later that month, our younger students will be heading to Camp Indy. We’ve shared before how special these weeks are, but every year we get excited all over again.
Camp Allendale 2016
Camp is when we get to spend the most concentrated time with our students. We’re together for six days, with early mornings and late nights and not a lot of showers. It’s a time when we get to engage our students without a lot of distractions—they’re away from their phones, the fear or chaos of their homes, and a lot of the things that normally cloud their lives. It’s a time when everyone has to stretch outside their comfort zones. We’re spending nights with spiders, riding zip lines and jumping into lakes, and learning to listen to each other. We get to help each other out, and watch each other grow.
Most importantly, though, camp is a time when our students see Jesus. Our days are organized around times of Bible study, prayer, and worship together, but we don’t want these to just be activities that our students do because we say so. We want them to encounter the transforming love of Christ this week. If we could have nothing else, this is what we would ask: that our students would know Christ, and that His love would change everything else. This is why we show up for our students every day, and it’s why we treasure this time at camp each summer. Every year, we come away thankful and awed at the way God proves faithful.
Please Pray
It’s still a way off, but would you join us in prayer for our time at Camp Allendale? Pray that:
- God would make a way for the students He wants to come.
- We would be protected from drama, accidents, and bad weather.
- We could show the gospel to our students with energy, humility, and love.
- The students would encounter Christ and the lasting impact of the Gospel in their lives.
Scholarships
In order to bring students to camp, we also need financial support. Camp Allendale is extremely generous toward us, but a week at camp costs far more than our students can afford. Would you consider sponsoring a student scholarship or giving toward our camp costs? The cost per student is $350, and we hope to take 24 students with us this year. If you are willing to help send students to camp, please visit the donate page on our website and choose "Camp Allendale Scholarships" from the drop-down list. You can also find a list of specific items we need on our Amazon Wish List. This opportunity to introduce our students to Jesus is a privilege, and we appreciate your help more than we can say.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support! We are already looking forward to sharing what God does. May he be glorified through us.
