We’ve just finished a great summer at KIDS Inc.! We’ve had consistent crowds at our Friday night Hang Time, we’ve kept Girls Night going, and had a fantastic experience at camp. Thank you for your prayers! We are encouraged by what God has done.
As we get back into the school year, we have lots to look forward to. Here’s a quick look!
Throughout the year we’ll be visiting Emmerich Manual High School every week. This lets us connect with the students and staff that form an important part of the community. We talk with students during their lunch hour, and get to be present in their daily lives. Starting this year, we also get to be part of a prayer meeting with teachers at Manual. We are thrilled to get to know some teachers who also love Jesus and care about their students. We’re thankful for their investment, and we look forward to seeing God work.
This fall is also an exciting time for us as we have taken on a new staff member! Eliza is a college student studying Social Work, an enthusiastic lover of Jesus and people, and our new coordinator for elementary-age programs. She has been running our weekly Elementary Club for K-6th grade students for the past year as a volunteer, and we are so thankful that she has chosen to work with us more! Elementary Club started this week – we had 30 students! In addition to organizing this event each week, Eliza is the point person for the INFUSE Tutoring program at SENSE Charter School. We are still looking for tutors, and this week is the last chance to get involved! Do you want to be involved? Get more information here.
As we move into fall, we’re also continuing with Hang Time, Girls’ Night, and our weekly Bible study, NCL. We’re always looking to adjust our programs to serve our students as well as we can, so we look forward to how these might change and grow this year. This past year, we’ve been encouraged by the volunteers we’ve had helping with these events. It’s great to be able to enter the year with committed help, and we can’t wait to see how God is going to grow us, our volunteers, and our students.
