Over the last year we have collectively experienced transition. With Covid-19 coming into our world about a year ago we all needed to embrace change. We have seen God working even as we have adjusted how we operate. God is good, and He still made it possible for us to be able to make a difference in the lives of many people in our community.
We at KIDS Inc find ourselves on the doorstep of many changes.
– KIDS Inc is moving – Old School 18 has been sold and we are in the process of looking for a new location.
– Jake is transitioning out of the role as Executive Director, and we are in the process of looking for a new director.
KIDS Inc is Moving
For the last 23 years KIDS Inc has been blessed to be located in a cool old school building that was built in 1901. We have loved this location and our partnership with Horizon Central (the church that owns the building), the surrounding schools, and the community. Over the last year we realized the growing demands of upkeep for a 120-year-old building was simply beyond what the church and KIDS Inc could afford. After much prayer and research, the board of the church (that Jake is on as well) voted to sell the building. This was a difficult decision to make because that would mean leaving the immediate neighborhood that we have been in, but we believed that it was the right thing to do. Currently, we are in the process of looking for a new location as we plan to move out by June 15 and we are thankful to have a good option! We will update you soon!
Jake is transitioning out of KIDS Inc
One of the things I (Jake) have always practiced is trying to keep an open hand with the Lord on what He wants me to do with my life. Over the last few years my wife and I have prayed about what the Lord would have us do in the future and how long to be with KIDS Inc. I have been working with KIDS Inc either as a volunteer or staff for the last 14 years and for 9 of those years as the director. Being able to serve with KIDS Inc has been a privilege! After much prayer and counsel, we have felt that it is time to transition out of role as executive director. I will officially be stepping out of the role mid-June. We are asking God and looking for the next executive director to lead KIDS Inc.
What is next?
Dr. J. R. Russell came onto the board as a temporary steward of the ministry to help with this transition. He is currently working on the next location for KIDS Inc and the other non-profits in the building. He is also helping with the search for the next executive director. Dr. Russell works for Indiana University, is head of the Gospel Martial Arts Union, pastors a church in Morgan County, and is a long time partner of KIDS Inc. We are deeply grateful for his leadership through this transition!
Thank you so much for your support and prayers over this past year! Please continue to pray for KIDS Inc as we transition to a new location with a new director. We know that God will continue to lead as He is faithful to do!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or write!
